Review: “Greener Grass” by Taylor Dee

Taylor Dee is a country artist from Dallas, Texas. She released her first album “The Buzz” on August 3rd 2019. One of the tracks from the album, “Greener Grass” has received significant attention – gaining over twelve-thousand streams on Spotify alone. We’ve given it a listen, what did we think? Here we go!

First of all, let’s be in no doubt here that this is an exquisitely produced, mixed and mastered piece of music. Officially this is country, however we would argue this waves between genre specific boundaries and branches more into modern southern rock.

The track’s build up wastes no time at all. Taylor is not messing about here, the progression and melody fit together so well – with great effect. One aspect we hear is the synth right at the back of the mix, it lays a beautiful foundation that compliments the lap-steel and acoustic guitars. The bass lays right in the pocket and the drummer has found a perfect beat to fit each section of this tune.

It’s hard to say what we like the most about this track, one highlight for us is definitely the bridge and lap-steel solo. It’s such a beautiful moment in the track.

All in all, even if you’re not a fan of country – you’ll be a fan of this. This is a song for everyone. We will go as far as to say this track is all killer and no filler. Taylor Dee has well and truly nailed it with this track. Bloody bravo!
