Velodrone says on their Facebook Page “We are not cyclists, but a power trio ROCK BAND in Los Angeles, CA”. A perfect description if ever there was one. They are formed of Marisa Dewa, Danielle Caseñas and Zachary Bernstein. On July 24th, 2020 they released their self-titled debut album. We took a listen to their album and here’s what we thought.
While listening to this record it is incredibly clear the band does exactly what they say. For when they say “power trio”, you really feel it with each second that passes throughout each track. “Love Race” (which was also released as a single back in June 2020) is a clear example of this, a strong start. “Reality” wastes no time in attaining this characteristic. Indeed, as one flows to the next, you get a real sense of what the band is trying to say – they don’t mince their words and they certainly don’t mess about with their music. These are professionals, clear as day.
A few short tracks on the album such as “Voyeur” and “Black Cat” are on the release (we here at Call That Music? are suckers for cats). Despite this, if you take the time to listen to Velodrone’s album, we are fairly positive you (like us) will agree that this album is one-hundred percent killer, no filler here. For what a number of the tracks lack in length, make up for with their quality.
