Sidewinder is an alternative rock band based out of Shetland, Scotland. They are made up of Scott Priest (on vocals and bass, kinda – apparently), Liam Davie (on guitar and backing vocals) and Arron Peart (drums and backing vocals). On November 19th, 2019 the band released a single titled “Diamond In The Dirt”. We took a listen and here’s what we thought!
The track takes no time to kick off, there’s plenty of energy and the intro is done exceptionally well. There are elements that you’d probably think “but this is Indie”, well despite your error here – this is gritty. This is rock. Sidewinder isn’t your average band. They’re doing some remarkably different here, their sound isn’t copying anyone. This is incredible.
“Diamond In The Dirt” is a remarkably produced, exquisitely mixed and mastered track. The energy in this song does not fade at any point, just when you think it couldn’t possibly go anywhere it else – it does. And we’re all the better for it. Honestly, you’d be pretty hard pressed to find a band that sounds even remotely similar to Sidewinder. In an age where other bands are going for the same indie sound, these folks are different. Pay attention to them, they’re up to something!
