Brooke Surgener has been covered previously in the blog (see here), this time however she’s BACK with a single titled “I Hate You The Least” released on May 27th 2022. We took a listen to the single, what did we think? Here goes!
It’s love at first play! Or something along those lines. This is definitely indie-pop but with a slight (ever so) country twist. What follows is an excellent piece of music that remains interesting throughout the runtime and enough elements to keep surprising even after repeated listening. The most interesting moment we picked up was at around three or so (ish) minutes, where a minor chord was thrown in for maximum shock and “awh” (geddit? No? Okay then…)
Overall an exceptional bit of music with performances throughout delivering the goods. It’s big, it’s bold, it’s lovely. No two seconds are the same, there’s plenty of variety within the song that it doesn’t feel like a chore but rather actual pleasurable listening. We look forward to what Brooke does next!
